Bri's Story

I’m Brianna, owner of Clipper Doodle Do. I created a grooming trade program in Iowa, am a grooming instructor, and am a proud brand ambassador for The Funky Poodle. I believe great grooming starts with great products, and I love using fun, innovative formulas that help pets feel their very best.

Here we go!

Before I started grooming, I was a kennel attendant and vet tech for many years . So I had a lot of behavioral dog and cat background . My career started back in 2012 when I worked for corporate, and that suit and tie life was not for me . I liked creative grooming and grooming senior dogs and dogs with behavioral issues, and I was not able to do any of that there . When I left, I noticed not only was I mistreated but I was often taken advantage of, and all that seemed to matter was more dogs and more money . So I left and, spur of the moment, opened my own salon called Clipper Doodle Do. I outgrew my first salon and upgraded to 1,000 sq feet . I was very happy alone but noticed something about me that wasn’t fulfilled . I had a deep yearning to help other people get into the grooming industry that otherwise couldn’t pay thousands to train or had to take months off work to train. I created a grooming trade program during COVID when the world opened back up and businesses were asking me to train groomers because I was training dog groomers on the side to get more groomers in the area .

Since then, I never could have imagined the success the program has or that I would hire my own employees, most of whom are from my program. I get to hire within my program because I teach them myself, and those that align with my business model, I get to hire and create jobs for my students fresh out of the program.

Between my business and my program. It has lit a fire inside me I never knew I had . Teaching people that the industry doesn’t have to burn you out , there is support here and I wanted to make sure I made myself available and accessible to the people who needed me .  Competition isn’t real amongst dog groomers or even salon owners and I am first hand proving that with my salon , my program and my students . I host regularly continuing education at my salon and at the school to give my local Iowans more education and I truly believe in the under dogs of our industry . I can see things in people that they can not which makes me a perfect ambassador for the funky poodle because they saw in me , what may have been overlooked by others .

In my spare time, I groom for a rescue called Oh My Dog Rescue . When they do surrenders, I volunteer my salon , products, and space to the rescue so we can shave and clean the dogs and provide vet care at my salon, and we send them off to their fosters all in one spot . I’ve been donating my services for around 3 years now, and it truly makes me believe that I was meant for something more than just “pet grooming.” I feel as though I have a purpose . I also like to work out and go to the gym, and our family loves to travel and be lazy on the beach or go on adventures hiking . I also take my students to the local shelter about 4 times each class to show them what bad breeding can do and show how hurtful it can be and hope that they will also offer their services when they become groomers.

Favorite scents?

Well, first of all, buttered waffles is king over in my neck of the woods as far as oils go.

Poodle Plum Fairy(seasonal) is my queen , Beta gives me perfume female vibes and Miami Vice and Fresh Linen smells like straight laundry . Those are all my beebees!

But if you want my fave routine, it’s washing and drying in Hypo and adding my fave oils like buttered waffles on the doggies!
